Are there any pet grooming schools in Davidson County, Tennessee? After years of hearing my mother say "You don't cut the coat on this kind of dog," (and also wishing to have a few extra skills that aren't as office/industry based), I'd like to find out if there is a pet grooming school I could attend on my off hours. My search in Google didn't find much -- any graduates of pet grooming schools or academies who want to give recommendations -- be my guest!
Does anyone know what I can do about a poor pet grooming service? Saturday we took our 6 month old Shih Tzu to a groomer, I got there after 20 minutes after my husband had dropped him off. They told us to leave and come back in 2 hours. I told them I wanted 2 inches left on and she said she would do that. We came back 2 hours later to find they weren't done. Finally they called us after 3.5 hours and my husband went and picked him up. They shaved the dog from neck to base of tail, not trimming his toenails or facial hair. The groomer told my husband "I hope your wife's not too mad." Mad doesn't even begin! Anyway, by Sunday night he was crying whenever we petted his ear and by Monday morning he has gunk and puss coming out all over his ear. Is there anyway to lodge a complaint against these people (besides the BBB) and possibly get them to help pay the vet bill?
Thinking of going to grooming school but will I have time for dog shows? I'm thinking about going to school for dog/pet grooming, but I also want to continue in the sport of dogs (showing in conformation). What would be a good job to look into after getting burnt out from pet grooming for so long? I have been a dog groomer for 7 years. I still love it and it will always be my passion. I will continue to do this, on the side, But I can't do this FOREVER. I'm getting older and you really have to be in top physical shape to do this successfully. It effects my stress level and my physical level. I feel so tired. I still love it but I don't want to end up like some of my co-workers... surgeries and bitterness. I would like to get out soon but the money is so good and I need at LEAST $500.00 MINIMUM a week. I don't have a degree and I'm afraid t I may be screwed. Any suggestions? I think i may need a desk job for a while before I get burnt out. Mabye just temporary...Obviously I would have to take a major cut in pay, but I think iIneed a break. Any suggestions out there as to any ideas of what kind of job I can take that's not so stressful and physical? I do have other talants like Piano, Guitar and data entry... So my question is: where do groomers go when they need to move on?

Help finding a loan for a pet grooming school? i would like to attend a pet grooming school in my local area. they are approved and regulated by The State of Colorado Division of Private Occupational Schools. This agency is a division of The Colorado State Department of Higher Education. Students attending the school may be eligible for student loans from public or private lending institutions. Requests for student loans are to be handled by the student directly with the lending agency. So with that information i started looking up student loans , private student loans, etc. through banks, through sallie mae, and so on. none of those places even have my school listed. i need a loan in order to take this program to become a pet groomer and it is $5,000. i need help, i need somewhere to find a loan for this particular school. any help is greatly appreciated.
Pet Grooming? Hey, I am concerned about how the pet grooming goes about. do they put the dog to sleep for a bit while they groom him or do they do it while they are awake even though the dog will be aggressive? and can the owner be there with the dog while he is being groomed? thanks. God Bless.

Pet grooming supply suggestions? I am searching for a small (size) LOOP to use when brushing my Domestic House Cat. I am building a Pet grooming table (with adjustable bar to attach this loop.) What "size"(?) options should I consider for this loop? I am E-shopping www.petedge.com (the site that was recommended by my local PetSmart store.) PetSmart is not able to sell me these loops. My DHC is a small (maybe) 2 pound shorthair cat, so I am searching for a small loop that will work for my needs. - The only options I find so far are far too WIDE (large) for my small DHC. Thanks for helpful suggestions.

Pet grooming courses online? I found this question, which sort of helped, but wanted a bit more reassurance... http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AhyXVMutxdIxpOQMsoM4j4RIzKIX?qid=20060928182505AAIxkBp I want to take online dog grooming courses, most likely through Nash Academy (possibly through Penn Foster, not sure yet) and was wondering what else I need to do to be more "appealing" in the business. Obviously I need hands on training, so would PetCo, PetSmart, or a local vet's office or animal shelter be willing to give me training? I live in Iowa, so the only way for me to get the schooling (without traveling 2 1/2 hours) is to take online courses... I got a call from Nash Academy and they told me about their option to do half of the training online (about two months worth) and the other half in Kentucky (6 weeks). So far it looks promising, so does anyone have experience with Nash Academy?

How much does it cost to have my pets groomed at Petsmart (details inside)? I have a Yorkshire Terrier, he's really sweet, and wouldn't bite. He weighs about 4lbs. I also have a Springer Spaniel who weighs about 40lbs (he's fat! :D) but he has a bit of a temper. I know that the price of the grooming sometimes has something to do with how they behave. Can anyone give me an estimate before I go? I can't get anyone to tell me when I call the store, apparently they guy that knows is on a "break".
Dog grooming school in San Francisco Bay Area (East Bay to be more specific)? Looking for dog grooming school in the Bay Area? Not looking for online schools, or video courses. I need hands on and practical guide shown by the instructor. Am not looking for pet grooming, but to learn to be a stylist. I know there is the Madeline's Institute of Pet Grooming at Santa Clara, but they do not offer/conduct classes till next Fall '07. And there are other schools but in South California, around the LA area. would love to learn from a grooming school of the basics first and then advance all the way up step by step... but will start with the basics of professional pet groomer first then go to the next step of advanced learning. But currently looking for a grooming school with basic instruction first, not looking for a grooming school that offer advanced courses yet.
Do you know any Emergency Care Tips For Your Pet? # Emergency Care Tips For Your Pet This is not intended as a substitute for expert veterinary care. Ask your own veterinarian clinic if they hold pet first-aid classes for owners. Many are now doing this, sometimes in partnership with other clinics in their area. Heat Stroke, Hyperthermia Pets cannot tolerate high temperatures as well as people can and they rely on rapid breathing to exchange hot air for cool air. Pets' temperatures are higher than ours -- a dog and cat have an average temperature of 101.5 degrees Fahrenheit. Common situations and features that can predispose a pet to overheating: 1. Being left in a car in warm weather, even if the windows are left slightly open. 2. Having a muzzle on while a pet is being groomed, and/or leaving the muzzle on while a pet is put in a drying cage. 3. Short-nosed breeds such as pugs, bulldogs, boxers and Persian cats. 4. Any pet with an airway disease. 5. Being confined outside without shade or an adequate supply of fresh water. Suggested treatment when this condition occurs: 1. Mild Hyperthermia can sometimes be treated by simply removing a pet from the situation and/or environment where overheating has occurred, and placing it in a cool place in the shade or in an air-conditioned room. 2. If a pet is unsteady on its feet and you have moved it to a cooler location, you can start cooling it by placing cool water on the feet. Rubbing alcohol on the skin of your pet's stomach (with a fan blowing on the pet) can also aid in cooling. 3. While these steps are in progress, have someone call your veterinarian so that they can determine if you should bring your pet in for treatment. Note: it is very dangerous to cool an overheated pet too quickly. Never put a pet in an ice bath, or use ice cold water, unless under the direct supervision of your veterinarian. Cool water is best. The most common sign of hyperthermia is restlessness and agitation, with vigorous panting. A pet's saliva may be thick, and the gums and tongue may be bright red. Depending on the severity of the hyperthermia, the gums can also be very pale and a pet may be lying down with its head, neck, and limbs extended and thick saliva coming from the mouth and nose. Always call your veterinarian, even if the pet appears to have recovered from hyperthermia, after you have administered any of the treatments above. Your veterinarian may not want to see your pet if it has recovered, but it is always best for them to determine whether or not your pet needs to be examined. Choking Choking is caused by a foreign object being lodged in the pet's airway and adding pressure to the trachea or windpipe. To avoid a choking incident, always provide your pet with toys that are the appropriate size. Toys that are too small (relative to your pet's size) can be easily swallowed and become wedged in your pet's airway. It's important to provide supervision when an edible treat is being chewed. Some treats that dogs enjoy, such as rawhide, cow hooves, and pig ears, can break off in pieces and may not be small enough for your pet to swallow completely. Always remove strings, foil, and feathers from cat toys -- these items can be enjoyable to your cat but may potentially become caught in its throat or intestinal tract. Indications of choking: 1. Noisy and labored breathing sounds – your pet will have difficulty inhaling 2. Pawing at the nose and mouth 3. Gums may be white or blue 4. Excessive drooling 5. Unconsciousness Determine if your pet's airway is able to be cleared by performing a finger swipe of the mouth -- this is accomplished by placing your finger on the side of the pet's mouth and sliding it down and toward the center of the throat. If no foreign object or substance is removed and your pet is still having breathing difficulties, contact your veterinarian for immediate instructions and care. Do not try and perform CPR or the Heimlich method unless instructed by your veterinarian. Bleeding A physical trauma can cause pets to suffer blood loss. Regardless of what caused the trauma to your pet, immediate attention to blood loss is required. Pressure: Apply gentle pressure to the bleeding; do not remove a cloth or bandage even if it becomes saturated, simply apply additional layers. The bandage can be held in place by bandage material if you need to free your hands. Elevation can be used to aid in stopping the bleeding, but try to continue applying direct pressure to the wound. Try to keep your pet calm, and contact your veterinarian immediately, or if the situation warrants it, begin transporting your pet to the veterinarian while controlling the bleeding. Tourniquet: The use of tourniquets can be dangerous and cause damage to the limb if applied incorrectly. A tourniquet should only be used if the pet is experiencing a life threatening situation, due to the amount of blood loss that is occurring from a limb or tail. How to Move and Transport an Injured Pet An injured pet is unpredictable, regardless of its personality. When pets are in pain, they react instinctively and unpredictably and cannot be held responsible for their actions. Always take precautions to protect yourself, and your pet, from further injury when transporting to the veterinarian. An emergency muzzle' can be made from a neck tie, silk stocking, a section of linen fabric, or other strong material. Using the middle of the material, make a loop and place it around your pet's muzzle. Bring the ends under the chin and tie snuggly around the back of the head under the ears. If your pet is unable to walk, or you have determined that walking may cause further injury or damage, a blanket can be used as a transport device. Gently lift the pet onto the blanket, and grip the edges of the blanket to lift and place the pet in the vehicle. Covering your pet is important to prevent heat loss and can create a calming effect. Smaller pets can be transported in a carrier or a box (with holes large enough for air to allow for adequate breathing) with a lid. Try to minimize the amount of movement, and make your pet as comfortable as possible. Always try to contact your veterinarian, in advance, to share as many details as possible, and the estimated time that you will arrive at the clinic. Snake Bites The first thing you must do if you think your pet has been bitten by a snake is to stay calm. Do not add any additional excitement to the situation. Your pet will need to be examined to determine if and where the snake bite occurred, and there may be more than one location, so examine carefully. A constrictive bandage can be placed on the limb involved, above the bite. A bandage will need to fit firmly on the leg, but not too tightly. If possible, try to identify the snake – you should attempt to determine the size, color, the shape of the head, and if there was a rattle at the end of the snake's tail. Do not risk injury to yourself in attempting to get this information. Carry the pet to the vehicle or, if too large to carry, walk it slowly to your vehicle and go to the nearest veterinary hospital. (This may not be the hospital that you regularly use, but immediate care is required for a snake bite.) In the meantime, keep your pet as calm as possible. Contact your veterinarian if you think a snake bite may have occurred, but you are unable to find the fang marks. Your veterinarian may want to examine your pet to insure a bite mark was not accidentally overlooked. Spider Bites Veterinary treatment is required for any spider bite. Unfortunately, you will probably not know when your pet has received a spider bite. Spider bites can be painless when they occur. What you may see is a patch of skin where the hair has thinned; there may be a single hole visible, with skin discoloration around the hole. The skin may be a dark purple or black in color. There might be lameness in the limb other than where the bite occurred, as well as fever and chills. Spider bites can be life threatening to you and your pets. Research the area you live to determine which poisonous spiders are prevalent, and always examine the areas where spiders like to build nests. Contact an exterminator to remove spiders from your home. I have never worked as a waitress, just got job at 5 star resturant..any tips & tricks? I have friend who works at a 5 star resturant,I have been looking for a job so my friend told the manager about me and she told him to send me in.I applied for a job and got it!The funny thing...I have never worked as a waitress! All my previous jobs have been pet grooming....So do you have any tips or tricks of the trade?I work well under high stress, but what am I really in for?Everyone keeps telling me their stories of bad customers, but no story I have been told tops what ive delt with in grooming...I do feel I can handle the job,and im very excited because the tips here are excellent, but im welcome for any tips or advice! Thanks! Just wanted to add- Im a sweet girl, and love people...I treat everyone with the upmost respect and when people turn to me for my services I treat them exactly how I would want to be treated!Whoo hoo! TO STICK-E-BUN...I dont think its very polite to nock another profession...10 hrs a day huntched over a tub with a dog fighting you that you then have to drag on a table, again hunch over to blow dry clip and style is HARD work. Then try doing that 10-30 times a day.Plus you have to deal with owners. Please refrain from saying anything about how hard a job is until you have tried it.Everyone seems to think all we do is play with tiny dogs give them a bath and were done...Its not a glam job.I dont doubt that waitressing is tough,i see they work their butts off too...but please dont insult my profession by saying is not hard work...
Tips for grooming a Persian with mats, PLEASE!? My groomer retired (without notice) and I haven't found another. My Persian is getting matted and I don't want to hurt him. He is rather old. I have every grooming tool, but wonder if there is a way to soften the mats to make him more comfortable. I bought two products at the store, but one says to soak your pet in a bath and the other has you spray stuff on him. Guess what, he is not going to tolerate either of those. There must be some old fashioned remedies out there. I know my parents never spent money on grooming. Something must work well that our parents and grandparents used before paying for a groomer became popular. I love my animals, but am not a very good groomer. I have found a new person to groom my dogs, but not every groomer does cats. I would appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you!
How to groom my dog at home? I have a 1 year old male westie and have been bringing him to the groomer since he was little. I would like to learn grooming him myself. How do I get started? I did it before but always have a hard time with his head area and I don't want to get water in his ear. What are some tips, hints, recommendations for grooming your pet at home? Where can I find more information about grooming westie and home grooming? Thanks so much!

Millsberry tips? Anyone have any tips for Millsberry? I have a few: I have one room that has a pet, a comb (any grooming item will do) and a "stack of books" in it. Every day I go and click on each one to get extra percentages in the green (civic), red (health) and yellow (intelligence) categories. I know the games help fill in the yellow and green, but this is a way to build up your red (health) faster too. Any other "tips"?
do animals get embarrassed?should i give my sheepdog a haircut & bobby-pins to keep the hair out of her face? would it be a good idea to take my sheepdog to petco or some pet grooming place for a new haircut or would that go against sheepdog code?are dogs afraid of scissors/hair trimmers&what if she freaks out/faints?i've seen dogs with smooth/ little hair&looked at all the fur on my sheepdog, which is long&shaggy,so i wasn't sure if the sheepdog is comfortable with having so much hair during this overwhelming heat.she sticks out her tongue a lot so that indicates that she is trying to cool down or just hungry or curious?do dogs sweat from their paws or they just drool?would a haircut&hair clips/bobby pins to pin some of the hair back help or does it's fur self-insulate?is a little bit of hairspray okay?are dogs allergic to hairspray?do dogs sneeze?how can i tell if she is embarrassed or not with the new hairdo?will she get depressed?do i wait until the sheepdog is asleep to secretly attach the hairclips/pins?any ideas??answer only if you can give tips for petcare during the summer weather^___^ how do we know whether dogs have egos or not?only show dogs have egos?are show dogs aware that they're being displayed in a contest since there are other dogs there & act snobbish as they prance around with their owners? good thing my sheepdog is not a show dog or elitist snob.anyway,my question was not meant for vanity purposes and don't spoil my pets with clothes/accessories.pets are more affordable in comparsison to real kids.i reserve the dressing up&pampering for myself:) i was concerned about how well dogs cope in extreme weather conditions.my sheepdog stays in the shade & doesn't like to take afternoon strolls in the park.i think she's kind of moody & picky.maybe she picked up on that behavior from me lol starting now, i must be a good role model for maryann,my sheepdog:) so sheepdogs have extra sensitive eyes? short-haired dogs have eyelashes to block the sun's rays?
Rabbit help....? I have a eight week year old rabbit that's a male and I was wondering if someone could give any tips on grooming, feeding, petting, taming etc. I also heard you can tame your rabbit to be paper trained. I would love to know how to teach a rabbit that.
what is the deep meaning to this poem by Carolyn Kizer called "Bi**h"? Now, when he and I meet, after all these years, I say to the bitch inside me, don't start growling. He isn't a trespasser anymore, Just an old acquaintance tipping his hat. My voice says, "Nice to see you," As the bitch starts to bark hysterically. He isn't an enemy now, Where are your manners, I say, as I say, "How are the children? They must be growing up." At a kind word from him, a look like the old days, The bitch changes her tone: she begins to whimper. She wants to snuggle up to him, to cringe. Down, girl! Keep your distance Or I'll give you a taste of the choke-chain. "Fine, I'm just fine," I tell him. She slobbers and grovels. After all, I am her mistress. She is basically loyal. It's just that she remembers how she came running Each evening, when she heard his step; How she lay at his feet and looked up adoringly Though he was absorbed in his paper; Or, bored with her devotion, ordered her to the kitchen Until he was ready to play. But the small careless kindnesses When he'd had a good day, or a couple of drinks, Come back to her now, seem more important Than the casual cruelties, the ultimate dismissal. "It's nice to know you are doing so well," I say. He couldn't have taken you with him; You were too demonstrative, too clumsy, Not like the well-groomed pets of his new friends. "Give my regards to your wife," I say. You gag As I drag you off by the scruff, Saying, "Goodbye! Goodbye! Nice to have seen you again."
Tips for rabbit digestive health? I have a 5 year old Mini-Rex rabbit. Unfortunately, there are not enough Vets who specialize in rabbit care. While I have always been told if a rabbit is eating and sleeping and seems upbeat and playful, his health is fine, not to worry. I have followed all the rules - in diet (Timothy hay, pellets, etc.), cage cleaning, exercise, grooming, environmental conditions, etc. for my pet rabbit. But he has had chronic diahhrea for several weeks. He is not under stress (which I know also causes this) and the Vet specialists I have taken him too, don't do anything other than offer antibiotic prescriptions which are not working. Any legit advice here is appreciated. Thank you.
How do I get my new pet rat to feel comfortable with me? I already have 2 females, and this new one is a male. So far he's doing very well with the girls; they play a lot and sleep together in their cage. It didn't take the girls very long to play with me and groom me, but the male is still so skittish around me. I am being as calm and slow as I can around him, and offer my hand, but he freaks and runs away. Are there any tips on how to ease him with me? I already have 2 females, and this new one is a male. how does this poem by Carolyn Kizer called "Bi**h" represents innocence?
I found an abandoned kitten, need a few tips.? When I found her, about 4-5 days ago, she was skinny as hell and kept hiding (she's feral). She's at the age where she's still a kitten but her eyes are open and she can run fast, climb etc without any problems (she's about 12 cm. tall :P). At first she wouldn't even let me touch her, but she would eat what I gave her (yes she greedily ate - even bread crust). Now I got her to love me, but there is another problem. She won't eat as much, she sometimes eats a bit right after i have pet her and she is a bit picky (only wants meat, for example). She doesn't seem to like dried food all that much (she used to when i first found her) but her appetite is just fine when i give her what she wants (a.k.a. meat!!! cooked ofc). I am a bit worried because even though she has put on a bit of weight, it seems to me she's just too picky for her own good. I also want her to be able to hunt freely, as all 'outside' cats do. I live in a region where there are lots of rodents and birds and gardens for her hunting pleasure. I don't want to provide so much food that she will abandon hunting entirely. She looks ok and is lively and plays with my 2 other cats, who, even though they're male, they seem to have adopted her (they clean ,groom and play wrestle with her, even eat peacefully out of the same bowl as her since day 1). There are no signs of any illness, but she just won't eat much, unless it's meat. How do I train her to eat what I give her AND hunt (like my two males do) without risking her health? I don't 'let' my cats roam outside where they can be hurt. They are always outside. They never come into the house. They were all once feral and now they only trust me. The environment here is fine and they live quite happily, I only help out a bit to make sure they don't have any problems with water and food. I also play with them since they let me pet them. Frankly, I'm not interested in taking that many cats into my house. I wouldn't even be able to pay for their upkeep. Besides, they live in their natural environment,, what's wrong with that? On a side note, I don't 'withhold food', I'm just worried I might spoil her.
Job Interview Help!? Hey! I am sixteen and I applied for my first "real" job. Its at a pet boarding, grooming and training place. Like an hour and a half after I gave them my application I got a call and was asked to come in for an interview. My main question is what should I do to impress the man interviewing me. I really want this job and would appreciate any pointers or tips to help me get the job. Thanks in advance! :)
Are you suppose to tip...? the dog groomer? We took our dog to a pet store where they also do grooming. There was not a "tip" slot on the credit card receipt. Should I have given her cash? If so, a percentage or a certain amount?
Showing rabbits? I'm new to showing rabbits & would like some tips on getting started. We're getting an English Angora and I'd like to start showing him, but I don't really know where to begin. I showed in 4-H when I was young but I know the ARBA shows are different. Any tips welcome I already have a pet quality EA and yes I know how much grooming they require.
Adopting an Adult cat...any advice? I plan on adopting an adult cat in the next coming weeks and want to prepare for her beforehand. She will be coming from a shelter and will be the only pet in the home. She is spayed and up to date on all of her shots. I would like some advice on what I will need for this cat before she arrives home. Off the top of my head I came up with: Food/water bowls Food Litter box Litter Toys Bed Grooming tools Carrier I just want to know if there is anything I am forgetting. Plus, it would help to hear of helpful things to have from people who have cats of their own. I am not new to cats as I had one 5 years ago, but just feel a little out of practice. Also, any tips for when she first arrives would be great too. Thank you in advance. Wow! There are so many great answers! Thank you to everyone who mentioned scratch posts as I cannont believe I forgot that! DUH! I did forget to mention that I had alread purchased a collar for her. We plan to purchase an ID tag for her when we finally agree on a name. This was very helpful as there were some things I forgot to put on my list that people here mentioned, like flea & tick, scratch post, and of course catnip. She is going to be a very spoiled kitty but after being dumped by some pathetic person and having to sit in that shelter I think she deserves it! Thank you all! I will have to re-read the answers and decide on the best one. There were so many great answers though!

Interested in pet care industry? I am currently in college, majoring in sociology and I have a particular interest in pet care and would like to pursue a career path in that direction. I am not particularly interested in veterinary sciences or technology, but I do enjoy interaction with animals and would perhaps like to begin a pet sitting service eventually. I am currently employed in kennel as a supervisor and can see prospects in grooming and other areas that appeals to pet owners. Most jobs in these areas are hands-on and on the job training, a college degree isn't very necessary for any of this stuff, but is there any schooling or other tips that could help me in this career direction? A change in major? Any tips, suggestions, or info is appreciated. Thanks.

I want to pet sit in my neighborhood? Im a 14 year old girl that wants to raise money but i can only do it in my neighborhood. I was going to walk, groom, bathe, and give attention to the pets, basically becuase i love animals. i have 3 cats. if i do this how should i price everything? i know this might be somewhat of a rude question but i just need advice, i dont want to have a really high price or low price. so how much should i have for... walking(per half hour)- giving a bath(small dog maybe cheaper than bigger dog) and should i make cats more expensive becuase they are more difficult to wash? or clean tanks from fish or reptiles- play frisbee with, play with(or should i have this for free?)- brush their cats or dogs(what time limit should i do?)- I can sit dogs, cats, fish, birds, reptiles and more. I need tips, i have no idea how to price things. if you give me a price range can you tell me why, like if it more difficult or somthing? do you think i should just try baby sitting instead? what small jobs can i do?

Dog question...? We have a cocker spaniel and my girlfriend can groom him ( haircut and bath ) herself which she used to do. However now she is tired of doing it, I would do it but she says I would not be good at it which is most likely correct. So she brings our dog now to Pet Co where they charge $45 dollars to groom him. Keep in mind he goes about every month. I think that is kind of exspensive for something that she could do for free, but anyway after she pays the $45 she leaves a $10 dollar tip! I think that is way too much, I actually dont think she should leave a tip at all considering they are not friendly when she drops him off or picks him up. Should she leave a tip? If so how much? How do you feel about the situation?
Outside-cat help!? Ok, there's a feral cat with 3 babies in our garden in our fenced backyard. The mother cat actually might have been a housecat that ran away because she seems so well groomed. We feed her twice a day, once in the morning and once at dinner with wet cat food. We feed her in the garden and she lets us pet her. Her babies are still breast-fed but none of them let us pet them yet. Obviously the mother hasn't been spayed. We want to keep the cats. They seem fine in our garden because during the hot days, the kittens stay under the cement blocks around our garden in a fairly large space. The mother stays under the leaves and vines or leaves for the day. But, the garden has flies and all kinds of bugs. Also, if we take them in for the winter, how can we coax them into our garage? Help! Also, outside cat care if you can give any! Tips too! PLEASE HELP!

What cat food would you recommend to help a cat live longer? I have 2 cats, one 4 and one 5. Yes, I know they have alot longer to live but I want to start giving them good nutrition now. My sister came over the other day (she works in a pet store) and said my cat food was horrible and unhealthy. I love my cats so much and I want something that is healthy for them, what would you recommend? (other tips on things that would help my cats live longer would be sincerly appriated. I give my cats hairball medicine and groom them.) The food I had before was Iams, the one my sister said was horrible. She looked on the back and it's filled with unhealthy, fatty ingrediants and tons of by-products. Ps- thanks so much everyone for your help! ^_^
